As part of the engagement with the public sector, Inspiring Impact NI’s strategic partner, Community Evaluation NI (CENI), commissioned PwC and a team of associates including Edgar Jardine, Dr James Magowan and New Philanthropy Capital to undertake a scoping study to explore issues and barriers to implementing impact practice within the NI statutory sector. A report outlining the key findings from this study can be downloaded here.

Additionally, in November/December 2014, five demonstration projects were identified having been informed by the scoping study.  The demonstration projects represented a broad mix of Government Departments, NDPBs and a local authority.  Guided by CENI and with support from PwC and associates, each demonstration project was supported to:

  • consider the Funders’ Principles & Drivers of Good Impact Practice
  • undertake a self-assessment of current practice using Measuring Up!
  • Develop a Theory of Change for the existing funding programme
  • generate a plan to support future impact assessment

A learning paper highlighting key achievements and recommendations from the five statutory sector demonstration projects can be found here.

Three case studies were also developed which can be found here.
